SAFETY TIPS FOR LALAFO USERS

What you should know to avoid being a victim of scammers

The Internet is the largest tool for information exchange, but at the same time it fosters the rapid growth of criminal activities involving getting money fraudulently and other types of scam.

For example, you may receive messages saying that you have won some sort of prize or money. You may be asked for help or to do some actions with someone’s money. You may be requested to make an advance payment for some doubtful offer. You may be asked to provide personal information, such as bank account number, passport or credit card details.

The best way to protect yourself from scammers is to be aware of how they work, stay sane, attentive and take a critical look at the situation. Also, follow the general safety tips listed below:

  • Stealing money from credit cards. A credit card is an instrument for making payments and accessing to bank account funds, at the same time easy to use credit cards are highly vulnerable to any type of fraud scheme. Never give out your credit card details to someone you don’t know (an expiration date and CVV code on the back of the card).
  • Paying in advance. Do not pay in advance. It is strictly not recommended to pay in advance, even if it seems to be a believable deal. You can even be put under pressure by a seller convincing you of high demand for their products and pushing you to make an advance payment in order to reserve an item. Stay clear-eyed about the deal and do not come under the influence of seller’s arguments. Meet with a seller and give money in person after you get your purchase. In case a seller is located in another city, use pay on delivery service. If you are going to buy a service, check the company that provides services, ask for providing you with payment confirmation documents when you make a payment and take other steps in order to make sure that executive performs obligations in good faith and the deal is fair.
  • Personal and confidential information. Never disclose or make publicly available any of your personal details, such as passwords, passport details, code words etc., as well as any other information that can be used to harm you.
  • Unreasonably low price. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as a free lunch. If you found a very attractive offer, do not hurry with sending money. It is more likely that they are fraudsters who catch their victims with low prices and good buys and then ask for prepayment via electronic wallet. You should take a close look at the advertisement and information concerning the individual who placed it. Do an Internet search. Sometimes it’s enough to enter, for example, a username or phone number in the search engine and you are likely to find feedback from other buyers who have already been scammed by this user.
  • Be wary if it sounds too good to be true. If someone promises you easy money or profit without any effort on your part, obviously you are going to be trapped. For example, you may be informed that you have won a lottery or some amount of money will be transferred to you. However, first you are asked to provide your credit card details or pay some sort of fee. You should be extremely suspicious of any offer that requires you to send money in order to release your winning.
  • Correspondence from Lalafo service. If you received a phone call or message claiming to be from our service, but an offer made or information heard seems suspicious to you, inform us via contact details available on our service and make sure it was our staff member or partner who contacted you.
  • Third parties. If you receive emails or text messages containing links to other web pages, do not hurry with opening them or calling on the phone numbers provided. First, find out whether there is any information in the search engines about using those links and phone numbers for fraudulent purposes. By clicking the link or calling on the phone you may get your device infected with a virus, take out a subscription to paid services or lose money from your mobile account. Remove the message if it arouses suspicion and you are uncertain about its source.

If you or your family members have become victims of fraudsters or you suspect someone is planning illegal activities towards you – immediately report the police!
